As a regular reader, you’ll know we usually provide legal advice that you might need to know. This month, you’ll get an insight into some of the things we’re doing for a good cause.

Elise Hyland

Elise Hyland is one of our private client solicitors. She’s currently preparing for next year’s London Marathon, in order to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation.

The Foundation’s vision is good mental health for all and their mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health. Elise says: “The 26.2 miles will be well worth it, if I can help even one person.”

Although the Marathon is not until next year, we’re thrilled to announce that Elise has already beaten her original fundraising target of £2,200. But every penny helps, especially if you are a UK tax-payer and add Gift Aid.

If you’d like to donate, please see her JustGiving page.

Meanwhile, Elise’s mum, Anita, is making these gorgeous knitted pumpkins which she’s selling on behalf of the charity.

Please let us know if you’d like to buy one. With Hallowe’en on the horizon, it’s the perfect time!

Like her mum, Elise has been creative about how she raises funds. For example, on 17 September, she held a four-hour charity spinathon. The event was organised by Ffion Evans of Ffion’s Fitness & Personal Training, held at The Flash Leisure Centre in Welshpool, and raised over £1,200.

Also, our practice manager, Jonathan Pierce, ran the Sheffield 10K this month, in order to support Elise’s chosen charity. It was his first-ever 10K, and he completed it in 56 minutes. Here’s Jon, proudly showing off his medal. To see him in action on a recent Park Run, check out our Facebook page.

The Marathon is on 21 April 2024. Please join us in cheering her on!
